Update 13.09.2018: Interior Senator Geisel, the referendum will be submitted to the Constitutional Court.

... even though he has no legitimacy at all. According to the Berlin Coalition Agreement, red-red-green no longer want to introduce monitoring to Berlin.

Nevertheless, Mayor Müller sees the announcement of Interior Senator Geisel, to prepare its own draft for the amendment of the Berlin Police Act (ASOG) to install more, even stationary cameras, as a compromise proposal to the CDU and the creators of the strange referendum for "More video surveillance and more privacy ".

As co-initiators of BAfF, the Berlin Alliance for Freedom Rights, we can only warn against such a "compromise line". Our call "No to sound and video surveillance in public places" remains the line to which the Berlin coalition parties must return. The Left and Greens in Berlin also support this appeal and will not let the 3rd coalition partner to push them in the completely opposite direction.

In late summer, the result of the examination will be available to the interior administration of the Senate and it will present , if the draft legislation is legally admissible. We had already referred to an expert report by Prof. Roggan, according to which the bill is clearly unconstitutional because of covert video surveillance and the unassuming sound recordings. The Berlin Constitutional Court will hardly be able to see that otherwise.

Therefore, there is currently no need to fall for the tricks of the right mood noise makers of the referendum. It remains in the statement by Axel Bussmer of the Humanist Union of 12 April: "Due to the numerous constitutional objections expressed by experts, the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, and associations, we call on the Senate Administration to submit the draft legislation to the Constitutional Court of Berlin for legal examination and to hold no discussions with the surveillance alliance."
