Corona cell phone surveillance violates constitution

The Slovakian constitutional court decided yesterday that for the time being the health authorities will not receive mobile phone data of their citizens against their will. This means that the opposition Social Democrats are getting it right that the amendment to the telecommunications law on corona surveillance adopted at the end of March violates the constitution.

The Social Democratic deputy party leader spoke of an intervention in data protection and civil rights that was "unprecedented in Europe". However, it is to be feared that the government will "amend" the law, as it was not repealed by the court but only annulled.

An addition of the missing purpose and a time period of validity could make it necessary to go to court again - who knows what will happen ...
